The hotel building is a shared property and other businesses operate some of the twelve floors. The top four floors are guest rooms. Unfortunately, the whole building shares two elevators and this includes house keeping getting from the basement. The ground floor regularly has queues out the front door of guests and customers. Even though we were on a high floor we tried to use the stairs, these disappeared on the second floor, I assume to prevent anyone gaining access to the rooms. The WiFi is almost non existent. Reception do sell WiFi for 200TWD which is hilarious as claim to provide on hotel websites. The hotel also provides a free washing a drying facility which is handy. But be warned non of the dryers work, and from talking to other guests the dryers at the other Diary of Ximem hotel don’t work either. On the plus, reception is over staffed and very helpful.

Room was so dusty and my eczema flared up! Cannot even breath properly at night due to the stuffiness. Had to put on the paper slipper even walking in the carpeted room. Cockroach in the room!! Waste of money!

Diary of Ximen II Liu Fang is very conveniently located in the Ximending district. Surrounded by stores, restaurants and bars, we found out that it was the busiest place next to Taipei 101 for tourists. The hotel has the basic amenities. A restaurant at the lobby that serves buffet breakfast of rice, noodles, breads and vegetable dishes. Flavored tea is available all day long for guests plus a mineral water dispenser at every floor. The room is a good-enough space for a family of 3, but there's 2 king-sized beds in it. The bathroom is clean with toiletries replenished daily. The carpeted floor is vacuumed twice a day. It helps that the internet is fast for our on-the-go research needs. The staff can speak basic English but you have to do the same so that you will be understood. The hotel is just a 10-minute walk to the closest MTR station where you can also access other modes of transport that can take you to the popular places. It is also just a 10-minute taxi ride to the historical central station. The hotel offers a friendly option for families or groups who travel on budget with the benefits of flexibility in terms of sightseeing and shopping.

The hotel is old and not well keep. The room is unclean, I need to kill cockroaches daily in the room. The step going down to the room and step going to the toilet is dangerous for young and old. The wall is thin and our neighbor make a lot of noise at midnight which I had to complain to the reception. The hotel staff did help to make them lower their voice however is still can be heard. The location is not bad which is near to XMD. The dryer is spoilt and all the clothes unable to dry after wash. Will not come back to the hotel again.

Pros => - Centrally located close to Taipei’s famous Ximending walking and shopping district (only 10min away by foot). - WiFi is provided in the rooms and is reliable. - The rooms also come equipped with a safe deposit box and an empty mini fridge. - The hotel might be old but is generally clean and there is no musty smell despite its age and the wall-to-wall carpeting in the corridors and some of the rooms (wood vinyl flooring are also found in the other rooms). Cons => - The rooms can be noisy especially those with windows which open up to the busy road below. - The walls are also thin and sound especially from the next room can easily be heard. - The bath tub lacks a shower curtain which means getting out of the tub could be tricky as the floor will be slippery and there isn’t any handle to grasp. - Also pls note that the beds are also quite low down (just over a foot off the floor).
